Sound Choice

Computer Translation: Constrictor Mag 10

The musical choice of this expert formation of Toronto and between them more difficult and atypical; feature of 21 long pieces of "The Sexual Fix" and in fact that of to transcend the electric language of search, not in sensational manner, testing the action of matteria thin related with the heat of the jazz-of the rock-dell' commercial electronica join with iron logic of the repetition of contortionisms and astonishing metamorphosis: a personal cocktail party and uncompromising. "Living for Sin" (umpteenth electric motivetto distorted) to Gong For New Genders (piece gomesso and improvised), "Take it Back" (pop alienating) to "Moving Parts and Realism" (amazing conversation between shouting altered in loop).

SKID #5

dk SURFACE TENSION

DK (an individual, not the band) abuses a large variety of instruments, conventional and un-, in the process of creating a full 90 minutes of excellent and humourous music  that avoids the indulgences I've heard in other examples of this genre (Residents-style warpage).

ALTERNATIVE LISTENER APRIL 1983

dk SURFACE TENSION

An independent cassette available from the mysterious dk himself. There exists a fine line between music and noise and this stuff precariously straddles the line - a definite edge if get the drift. Blocks, segments, blotters of sound delivered in a pleasingly unprofessional way. Playful cacophony that exudes a great deal of warmth and likeability. However esoteric the  music may seem, there's an obvious human quality to it. Lots of variety and reference points, my favourites perhaps being the ones featuring jagged guitar lines as in early Captain Beefheart. To a deal no closer will  you get then this, as DK willl trade anything except money.
